Tyler haslett is a stupid douche A.K.A dont stand in a greenhouse whilst throwing stones, as your walls tumble quickly ;)

I got a visit from my lovely sister this evening, and she asked if I have been onto my blog recently. I mutter something about being a slovenly sloth and not gettting round to updating, when she mentioned I should check out some rather malicious comments that had appeared on my joker bank heist mask” post. I jumped on to see the name Tyler Haslett. I know of the name in fact as this “gentleman” is quite well known on the RPF. NOW, those who dont know, a few facts:

1)The RPF stands for the replica Prop forum, a community of film model and prop builders, who struggle tirelessly to achieve their own dreams of owning a prop from one of their favourite films. It is a prop community that takes a moral viewpoint against recasters (people who take an existing prop and remolds it for monetary gain.

2 I.love the RPF

  1. I abide by its rules and

  2. 4. I have never made contact with Tyler Haslett.

I know of him, mainly because of his shady reputation on the rpf. Now, he did in fact inspire me to create my own, as I loved the prop and was impressed by Tylers work. But not enough to warrant spending over 100 dollars on something that I didnt think was nearly good enough. So I decided to make my own from WED clay on a mannequin head. The head was a garish turquoise green colur and stylised, meaning it was quite a small head and turned facing left. I dont have a small head. I have a large head. So, with newspaper and gaffa tape, I took to making the head fatter....

I even went so far as to use a duct tape model of my own head, which involve cling filming my head and covering it in gaffa tape. Which was the put over the manequin head and filled with newspaper....(photos above show mid progress, not recast, but made from clay.... GASP!!!)

I then began to cover in WED clay (bought from a UK COMPANY, WHO I WILL BE GLOWING ABOUT IN A FUTURE POST) After apply a thick layer of clay over the front, I began to map out basic shapes. The model head was twisted at the neck, and the more I worked, the more I struggled with making it symmetrical. I give you credit Tyler, yours seems pretty symmettical, but just not very accurate. I've seen your mask, I have even saved pics of your mask so I can show all the girls and boys at home. I'll show them all your flaws in your mask, and where I tried to improve on them. HOWEVER, I HAD NEVER SEEN ONE OF HIS MASK IN REAL LIFE!

so anyway, I decided eventually to remove the mask off the model head by cutting the duct tape behind the mask edge and the lifting it off, it was then when I realised that it was severely wonky. Lol, meant I had to go back to the drawing board...

few hours later, less wonky......

Anyway, 25 hours of a labour of love later, I have this pair of effing clownshoes telling me I copied his frankly, not very good mask. I aint saying mine is perfect by no means, but it is better than yours Tyler. Sorry to break it to you. Actually, it not..... you smug little fool....

So, here are the pics that I took whilst I was making my mask, entirely from scratch, having never made contact with the meat roofer (Tyler Haslett hahahaha, see if you can be childish, so can I) and have never been in posession of one of his “sort of but not very accurate" masks, I cant be totally certain as to whether they look alike, but I also can, AS IT IS OFF THE SAME PROP, you douche canoe!!!. Anyway, ranting will continue after this short interlude....

In conclusion, Tyler, you witless idiot, I have never bought an item from you, and find your accusatory tone as boorish and arrogant. And if you look above, youll see the inside of the WED clay master that I molded. You'll also see the imprint on the inside, why look at that Tyler, gaffa tape..... not a fibreglass mask thats been built on in sight!!!! Can you see tyler, can you see the reflection of the gaffa tape through the clay on the cheek when the flash bounces off of it???? You've been kicked off every forum that I know of and you've been on and frankly, no one likes you. You were banned from The RPF and now your name is synonymous generally with one who negates on deals and is unable to deliver his substandard props in a timely fashion.See we can both be bitches.... so anyway, imma go email TYLER HASLETT on his email address, which is at nofarmy@hotmail.com telling him he just got served.... YOU SHOULD TOO!!! If he sends me back a reply, I'll be surprised, but if he sends me his evidence that i recast his work, (which would seem alittle silly, seeing as there is pretty good proof here that I didnt...,) I'm sure to post them here to back up his case. Its in Tylers court now, he has to provide evidence to backup his bullshit claims! I got a feeling he doesnt like the taste of humble pie....and a message to TYLER, GET BACK ON YOUR SOAP BOX BITCH, YOU GOT SOME DEFENDING TO DO.....

Joker bank heist mask.

Since becoming enthralled with the character of the Joker, portrayed by Heath Ledger, I decided it was about time I sorted myself out the mask he wears in "the dark knight" at the start of the film. I went looking for licensed replicas and was bitterly disapointed. I haven't displayed them but they're easy to find if you use your google-fu! Rubies, the halloween costume people have released one, its cheap and cheerful and pretty innaccurate. Made from vinyl, it doesn't sit correctly and has a mildly conehead appearance. Ok for trick or treating, but not something you can really display. Noble has also produced a mask. The prototype shots revealed very little, as they had used a photoshopped picture of a screen shot from the film, literally cutting and pasting the image onto the stand they had created. When they eventually released pics, it was if a blind man had sculpted it out of butter using a hammer. Many pre-orders were sent back. it was made out of porcelein, maybe to reduce the chance of someone trying to wear it, as rubies had the costuming rights. The original was carved using an auto cad designer and carved out of foam before being vacuum formed over. It is supposed to be stiff and retains its shape. I dont have a vacuum former, so it was a WED clay sculpt, which was then moulded in RTV silicone, and then cast from fiberglass resin and matting. This first one is my master and is verrrrry thick so doesnt fit my face very well, even though I will be making them thinner from here on in. It just means that I can display this until my mould dies and then use it to make new moulds. I hope to make a few more to sell to friends whilst I'm out of work. God knows, the world definitely needs more accurate representations of this iconic piece. Enjoy!

What doesn't kill you makes you stranger.....

And dressed for the ball!.....

Why so serious?

I have a bit of an obsession with Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. The character appeals so me very much to the dark side of me. I am a postitve person. Very. But I understand the sentiment that some people want to just watch the world burn. Now, if you can do it with swagger and great determination, it can be quite beautiful to watch Vitriol. After nailing his voice moderately well, I did the costume for the last two years for Halloween. improved the second year with an amzing waistcoat that My mum helped me to make (cheers mum!) I think I'll put him away until I have every single piece of his wardrobe perfect, and have lost a little more weight (I'm a wardrobe goddamnit! I long to be a Tallboy!) It may take a while, as its expensive to be accurate, even his tie, when it was available to but, from Asser and turnbull, was 150 dollars! Here are some of the preliminary photos from 2 years ago, including my first attempt at the make up. Looking fairly chunky (2 stone heavier in these pics, but hey ho, let go!) Enjoy!

What a wonderful World.

have had a weird few weeks. They have been enriching and wretched, Inspiring and heartbreaking. I lost my voice for a while, and came back singing the Beauty of this World. We are such very lucky creatures, we just often never realise it. But we must always take time to admire the roses. They can be few and far between on this dirt track called life and if we pause, take time to reflect why that rose is there, then the road seems to tilt downwards, and soon you are running like a child seeing their mother. We must all learn to laugh and cry like Children. We were all once were children, and although we put away childish things, we must never forget who we are and were. If you have read these words, know this. If you can love the world without misgivings, accept each human being for what they are, strive to make everyone's path a little more stone-free, then I will keep you in my heart till the day I die. You are a creature just like me, and I love you.

Getting back on track...

I have been working on this piece for a while, it got hidden in the utility room for an age, and the work i had put into it was lost. But I completed yesterday and am glad I did. cardboard base, Fibreglass resin, car body filler, milliput model putty, and a broom handle that I turned on my belt sander. I lost many a fingertip doing the spikes (18 spikes in total and only 10 fingers...) primered grey, painted black and dry brushed with silver paint. Added accents with gold rub and buff and it was complete. As I'm unemployed at the mo, it will eventually be sold, but I wanted to keep it for a few days because I'm happy with it. It reminds me that my hands are not just for wringing in panic. Credit to Blind squirrel for inspiration, and for the gent at the Leeds armouries Weta exhibition that I think saw me taking photos of this helmet and turned away. It was a very insignificant but noble gesture. here is the Witch King helmet from Lord of the Rings, enjoy!

Alice, you're late.....

Ventured to an Alice in wonderland themed night with my lovely missus Cathie, Her cousin and her boyfriend, who is one of my best friends. We only made a final decision that we were going in costume on Wednesday night, but a rushed costume can sometimes be a lot of fun. Cathie had already got an Alice costume from a previous fancy dress party, so it was on with my costume. I was pretty sure, after my wonderful sister posted me a fabulous mad hatter costume tutorial made by Threadbanger on Youtube, that the hatter would be the best route. Although my obsession with Tim Burton is probably bordering on dangerous now, I decided to veer away from his imaginings, as if I do a particular film character, I like to get it as close as possible and thought there was no way I could achieve a close likeness with the materials I had at hand. So, a Victorian, slightly freaky (and originally intended, zombified) Mad Hatter........
Charcoal grey Trousers I already owned, white primer and red enamel spray paint over masking taped stripes, hat made in about an hour and a half with my lovely assistants help and that invaluable tutorial(thanks V!), cane was a broom handle and the teapot was made from insulation foam, also about an hour, contact lenses from a while ago, that i never opened and red snazaroo face paint for the eyes. Shirt, waistcoat, jacket and brothel creepers, models own lol) neck tie originally flower arrangement ribbon. Enjoy!
p.s The night wasnt massively busy, meaning that although quite a lot of people turned up in costume, Cathie was the only alice, and I was the only mad hatter. Oh and Cats cousin and my friend went as a rose and a playing card with paint brush respectively. That was a very cute idea!

And So it Begins....

Well, after everyone and their dog seemed to jump on the blogging bandwagon recently I thought I would join suit and join up. Here is my first post, more to follow.............
